FEA Analysis

A Nonlinear FEM analysis is performed between actual human talus and RHS composite ABS talus material to compute stresses. A traumatic compressive load condition was applied on the glenoid fossa end of the talus to both the models to compare Biomechanical performance. The von misses stress analysis on the human bone and the ABS material for the applied trauma load was evaluated and the results shows the significant similar stress values even at higher stresses ranges and also same stress distribution behavior is observed, signifying the same venerable geometric location. Hence ABS can be considered as surrogates mimicking the similar bio mechanical properties of bones and can be used for medical applications. (surgical teaching & training, conference workshops, patient education etc.)
Von Mises stress norm is a representation of the effective stress in a material under determined loading conditions. In these images, the scale for stress runs from minimum stress value (blue) to the highest stress value (red).
